Our History
American Heritage Life Insurance Company (AHL) was founded in 1956 in Jacksonville, FL and has expanded to a national presence. The company is licensed to conduct business in 49 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In October 1999 AHL was acquired by The Allstate Corporation, and now uses the marketing name of Allstate Workplace Division (AWD). All products are underwritten by American Heritage Life Insurance Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation, headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois. Our home office is located in Jacksonville, Florida.
As of December 2002, more than 29,500 agents are licensed to sell Workplace Division and individual products. Workplace Division products currently include universal life, term life, interest sensitive whole life, annuities, disability income, cancer, accident, hospital indemnity, and dental insurance. Workplace Division products are now offered to more than 16,500 companies.
